The challenge posed before online teaching jobs in the field of education is that there is this concern of students feeling isolated and detached from the actual learning. Because online courses take place in the virtual world, the job of the online instructor sometimes turn lot more tough and demanding compared to a traditional class. The instructor has to see to it that the learning process becomes an exchange between the students and not just a one-sided learning experience. This is most especially required in the field of education where the exchange of ideas is a vital part of learning.

In an online setting, it can become quite harder for the teacher to manage and captivate his students’ attention. In order for the class to be effective, students have to be encouraged to actively participate in it. Additionally, the teacher must also be comfortable with the environment they are in; and must be able to make use of the technology of the internet to deliver thoughts and ideas.

Some of the job challenges for online teachers of education include:
 

• Development of technical and technological skills to enrich the experience of his students, as the instructor imparts the lessons.

• Provide balance between imposing too much or too little control in the online class discussions

• Motivating and encouraging learners to share and reflect on issues discussed in the online course

• Set up activities that promote and enhance learning or demonstrate what the students can do.

• Provide avenues for online collaboration among learners.

Ideally, what students need to learn from the online lessons should be something they can make use of in the real world. What makes online teaching jobs rewarding is that even while things happen in the virtual space, the frequency of communication between students and teachers happen a lot more often. In effect, it becomes a more personal and a more effective approach, even with the physical boundaries and limitations post by being online.
